I have this on the hard drive, but it has no menus, and goes right into the movie upon inserting the disc. I wanted to create some menus and sort of re-author the disc, but I have no idea on how to convert .VOB files to either .AVI or .MPG files for editing. Plus, I'd have to create menus.
So after talking to Elizabeth last night, she convinced me to go ahead and burn it onto a disc. I did. On the computer it doesn't look so purdy. I put it into the Xbox this morning and it looks fine. Better than the VHS version I have, but I'm sure it falters in comparison to the ones coming out next week. (the source is the 1993 LaserDisc)
So, since you all have the THX widescreen version of this movie, you can have a back up of it on DVD. Perfectly legal until you start selling them. So if you'd like, I can burn you a copy legally if you provide me with a DVD+R disc. Has to be a +R because my drive doesn't do the -R discs. I think OfficeMax has a 50pk spindle for $30 right now. I'd let you 'buy' one from me, but I don't have any except for what my brother bought for me to use for his movies.
EDIT - changed the title to reflect the download.

Cool. I'm interested to see how it looks.

I watched this one most of the way through twice now.
The quality is pretty good, but it is just the movie, no menus, no chapters, just the movie. Not a bad trade off, but it can be annoying.
The other detraction to this version (appearantly there are a few different LD-RIPs out there) is that there are no subtitles. That means you have to remember what Jabba said, or guess from the context.
Other than that, it's a good disc.
