I saw it in Dallas and I really liked it. Selma Blair was great and Hellboy was hilarious.

I had no expectations and really liked it the story was cool(even if the giant squid gods weren't so much) Selma Blair's character wasn't very developed but I didn't mind it still worked, and best of all it made me interested in the comic.

I don't believe that they're made to "make" interest in the comic but it's like a cherry on top if it happens. Comics have a built in audience, plus those who read them, all have atleast one they think woul dbe a good movie so some of them are easy to sell to the studios and since X-MEN the word has gotteen out that for the most part comic movies make a hel of a lot of omney so there's little risk of you losing our shirt backing one.
