Saw this on the trib this morning #rolling_eyes# The Sci Fi channel is changing the spelling of its name.
According to an article on Reuters.com, the NBC Universal-owned cable channel is changing its name to SyFy in June. But if you say it out loud, it still sounds like Sci Fi.
“The phonics-friendly moniker is part of a network-wide rebranding campaign that has been in the works for more than a year,” says the article. “It’s an evolution that also includes a new logo and tagline — ‘Imagine Greater’ — and will be announced (today) at the network’s ‘upfront’ presentation to advertisers for the new programming season.”
The article quotes network president Dave Howe as saying: “We love being sci-fi, and we’re still embracing that. But we’re more than just space and aliens and the future — the three things most people think of when they think of ‘sci fi.’ “ Ugh I guess will be seeing more 'restling #cry#
