A few days ago my dad went into the hospital with pneumonia. After a few x-rays, CAT scans, blood work the doctors have found a baseball sized tumor in his left lung, a tumor in his right kidney, and several blood clots in his lungs and one in his heart. None of the tests have come back yet but the doctors are very sure it is cancer.
Also to make this more fun then it needs to be for the first time in over 40 years my dad is a non-smoker. So all the stress of being in the hospital and the nicotine withdraw is just the icing on the cake.

Gosh Elizabeth, will it not end for us? Your mom, my dad and now your dad... My prayers are with you and your family. Feel free to call me if you need someone to talk to.

Thanks John
I can't help but think about all the people we have all lost in the past year and a half.
Right now I am trying dwell on the unfairness of burying my mom a year ago and now dad's in the hospital. We are staying positive right now I guess because there is no other way to be.

Well dad is still in the hospital but I think he should be getting soon.
The test results came back and dad does have lung cancer or small cell carcinoma. They started him on chemo Saturday. He is feeling good enough to start calling me a communist again and ask for food.

The important thing is to be there for him as much as you can. I hope your siblings are helping out as well.

Elizabeth,
I'm so sorry. Been off the boards for a while, so I'm just now seeing this. I hope you've got him settled at home now. If there's a way I can help (or even just listen), don't hesitate to let me know!

Well it seems the chemo has quit working. The he was accepted in an experimental trial for a cancer treatment they have been using in Japan.
He is not feeling very good right now mostly he is just really tried.

Is he at home or at the hospital? Is he weak enough that he needs someone to help take care of him? Everyone I know who's ever had chemo says it just zaps all of the energy you have, so that had to have drained him even before he started this new trial stuff.

He is at home. Over all he feels pretty good just doesn't have a lot of energy. He go the flu a few days ago and has been in bed. The doctors called him in to start his treatment and drove himself to the clinic.
