Comic-Con: First Report From The Floor

Not much is on display just yet, but here's a quick rundown of what we glimpsed on the showroom floor. No pictures are alowed just yet naturally.

Much of the Battle Packs are on display, including the Jedi Vs. Sith, Jedi Vs. Separatsits, Rebellion Vs. Empire, Assault on Hoth, and the Jedi Temple Assault. A new set based on the EMperor's Throne Room was also on display, containing more repacked figures.

It looks like there will be more exclusive repaints this year, with a new Toys R Us exclusive Holographic Emperor, and a pair of Target exclusives: Obi-Wan Vs. Anakin, each with a connecting display stand.

Three more Target Collector Cups are on the way: Darth Vader, Princess Leia, and Stormtrooper.

The Millennium Falcon has been repackaged in the ROTS graphics and will be out exclusively at Toys "R" Us in time for the holidays.

Force Battlers, Unleashed, and Galactic Heroes were being set up, but nothing new has been put out yet.

The Attacktix Republic Gunship is making its debut, and its roughy the size of Boga and the AT-RT, which means it's not to scale with the figures. It is connected to the base, but still hovers in the air above the ground.

Another Gunship on display is the Titanium Series 6" scale die-cast vehicle, alongside a new 6" X-Wing Fighter.

What's Next For Hasbro?

Always in motion, the future is. While 2005 was a "movie-year" and had a lot of toys geared towards younger fans and collectors alike, things will be changing in 2006. This will be a year for the collector.

Clone Troopers
We've already heard early details about a variety of Clone Trooper 3-figure multipacks planned for Toys "R" US this fall, as well as a new 5-figure Battlepack featuring Clone Troopers, but there's more to come.

Unleashed
The three Unleased figures that debuted yesterday will be the final three figures in the line as we know it. The 7" scale will be phased out after 4 successful years. However, the line WILL continue in a different format. Plans call for a new line of 2" figures sold together in a 4-pack set. No word yet on which characters will be included, but it sounds like there will be room for many more characters to get unleashed in this format.


Die-Cast Action Figures
At Celebration III, Hasbro held a discussion group with fans of the Titanium Series line, at which participants were shown some ideas for upcoming toys and were able to voice their opinions on them. One of these potential new lines was a line of Die Cast 3¾" action figures. This line will be made in 2006, although it is not yet known which characters will be offered.


Return of the OTC
The Original Trilogy Collection was a major success for Hasbro in 2004. Sharp-eyed fans may have noticed that some 2005 toys (Clone Troopers Troop Builder sets, Comic-Con exclusive Holographic Princess Leia) have continued the look long after the line officially came to an end.

After Revenge of the Sith concludes, look for the return of the OTC packaging design (minus the OTC logo) with a combination of Classic Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy offerings. Popular action figures and vehicles from all 6 movies will be repackaged alongside new sculpts and new paint applications. No word yet on exactly which characters or ships will be included in this line.
