www.theshadowlands.net/places/texas.htmAnyone been to any of these places? I didn't know about the Anson lights (Zada's namesake is buried there). I knew a girl who's dad worked at the Driskill Hotel in Austin - she said he'd make the elevator's go up and down. I haven't gone through all of them yet.

How cool is this?! Now you're getting into some stuff that I'm extremely interested in (aside from folks who love sci-fi)--paranormal activity. I've been toying with the idea of going "ghosting" with some local ghost hunters--just haven't found a good group yet (many seem pretty flaky). I've been reading up on ghost hunting equipment, different categories of hauntings, etc. Pretty interesting stuff.

Through another board. The thread was actually a few months old, and had already been 'rehashed' once. This is kinda spooky. These are EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomenon), like what "White Noise" used as a plot device. Some of them I can't decipher, but several of them are very odd. But then again, I feel like with a little time and practice, I could make one here on the computer. I have always been intrigued by ghosts, but never have had a ghostly experience. I feel that there are some people who are more attuned to this type of phenomenon than others. Kinda like those stereoscopic pictures (Mallrats) where you either see the 3D object or you don't. I've used an improvised ouija board before and "spoke" to a spirit named Ivy who knew who I was. My mom knew of a person named Ivy, but said she died before I was born and wouldn't know who I was. That's been about the extent of my ghost hunting.

Never been too interested in "contacting" the spirits--just more interested in finding out exactly what is going on when folks see "ghosts". What are they? I'm especially interested in residual hauntings--the ones that repeat actions (ie continually walk down the same hallway) and don't interact with people. One theory I've heard is that they're like a photograph taken in time. Energy, light, etc. merge at the right time to "play back" the movie. "Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope"

One of my dad friends, Helen who clams to be a clairvoyant once told me I was a natural medium. I took it with a gain of salt she always struck as a bit of a charlatan. Kind of like a paid friend someone you just told you what you wanted to hear.
At father’s request I spent the afternoon with her at her lake house. She told me things like in a past life I had been a Buddhist monk and in my last life I died in a Nazi concentration camp in 1942 (I think). Mom and dad both tell me stories about when I was little. Like dad says that I have repeated word for word things his father told him. Pointed to things that weren’t there, talked about people that I couldn’t have known. Said things that are weird from a 3 to 4 year old.
I’ve also seen a few things that are strange but in the end explainable. Like at UMHB a friend told me that Presser Hall is haunted. I think he said that in 1950’s a man from the Ft Hood shot his girlfriend somewhere in the building. Don’t remember the details. But people always (myself included) heard things like doors slam, loud footsteps, etc…
Oh and I swear that there is a ghost in this library. It’s always in the back part of building never the new part. Reflections on the floor that shouldn’t be there, silhouettes in lighted hallways and lots of noises when the building is completely empty.

I think it would be fun to try some of those EVP things... I also think it would be neat to wear rubber undies while doing it.
