I have the latest version, but have problems with .MPG files. sometimes it plays, sometimes not. Any clues?

Not really, but you should download the latest Quicktime Player from Apple.com. It's the best anyhow.

It plays the mpg files if they're on the hard drive, but sometimes do/don't if they're streamed.

Yeah, I tend to use Quicktime Player or RealPlayer.

Quicktime said it couldn't play .mpg files.

I thought I updated it, but appearantly I hadn't. I was using 4 and 6.5 is the latest. And no, 4 wouldn't play .mpg files. Said it was unknown. Couldn't fix the associations either. So don't get four.
