I still haven't managed to set aside 60 hours of my life yet to sit down and watch the extended version yet but I will try to do it and tell you guys about some of the extra scenes.

It would take me probably longer than 60 hours to read the book. Tolkien's writing style kinda bores me. Maybe if Stephen King or some other modern writer revised it...

Because I read the Hobbit and could barely get through it. Peter Jackson and his crew made the movies interesting. Had Disney made the movies, I don't think they would have done nearly as well.

I started on disc number 1 and there is a significant amount that was cut from the original but I had to stop because I just couldn't believe there were 3 more discs to go and it depressed me.
