I just came back from seeing the Alamo and I absolutely loved it. Please hand out the Oscar to Billy Bob Thorton. Now, those are the words I would never had thought to say after Bad Santa.

I thought he was good in it, I don't know about Oscar caliber. The movie was a little slow at times too. I enjoyed it overall. It was only #3 at the box office this weekend behind Passion and Hellboy.

Just wondering, was it historically accurate, or was it a myth-fest?

Actullly, the thing that I found really interesting is that the script itself deals with Davy Crockett and Jim Bowie trying to seperate themselves from the legend that lived before them and I think earning the legend that lives on now. It was interesting to see them try to see that these men weren't just the legend they were meant to be, try to live up to the legend, and actually becoming the legend that they were always meant to be. There were flaws in this movie but I think the point of the story was executed well and I think the character and plot development were key to this movie. I know that this movie was suppose to be three hours long which is probably why the editing seem as smooth as it could have been.

I agree that Billy Bob was really good as Crockett, and as to the accuracy of it. It's kind of hard not to be in this day and age, especially since there wasn't much to the fight, it's not like there were any secret agendas or documents that are waiting to be uncovered(unless Loveless was involved somehow)

LOTR was also a great work of literature by the great Tolkien. How many now a days write like Tolkein. Okay, so you can't really compare Alamo to the LOTR.
