I think you missed my joke, Robert.... You know, George Carlin - "Pre-Board the plane. How can I get on the plane before I get on the plane. And screw that, I want to get in the plane, not on the plane!"

I wonder what the inside of the box looks like? I kinda hope they make them like the Firefly series, the see-thru slim cases with various images from that particular movie. That would be cool. But if they use the big cases, I hope they have a seperate case for the 'special features' disc.

Looks like they're gonna change Fett's voice too.

Part of what made them so special to me is that they aren't 'perfect.' As a kid, I never cared that there "weren't enough aliens" in the cantina. I did wonder why some of the comic book didn't match up to the movie, but it was still cool. Hell, I even kinda like seeing the little 'boxes' around the ships when they fly through space, from the video transfer. I liked the special editions, to an extent. It was nice seeing an update. But, if he changes Fett's voice, I think I'll lose all faith in Lucas. If he wants to fix something, how about fixing the flipped film of Boba Fett in ROTJ? It's annoying to see the range finder on the wrong side.

I'm just less and less excited about the DVD release.
With all the changing GL is doing to OT I just don¡¦t want them as much.
Replacing Shaw with Hayden in the final scene of RotJ Changing Boba Fett¡¦s voice Naboo added to the end of RotJ Newly-altered "Do you remember your mother?" dialogue from RotJ Altered Vader/Emperor dialogue from ESB

I think I read that the Fett voice thing was a device to expoit the leakers. Probably something was said in passing in front of a suspect to see if that person was the mole... Guess we'll know soon enough!

All these little changes are going to be an ugly surprise for the causal Star War fan.

Some of the changes I like...
Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) in Empire...cause that other guy (Clive Revill) who played the Emperor looked nothing like ROTJ. Plus Ian's voice signifies the Emperor...from Episode VI-III.
In the rancor pic, I'm glad they tweaked the bad bluescreen around it. If you remember when they were talking about having to do stuff to make the bluescreen look right in Empire. They talked about black lines around where the added footage would be...it's all over the rancor fight.
And How in the hell does these people have pics of the new footage, when all we have seen of it is the DVD trailer?

Who knows? People always have bootlegs of stuff early, you know.
I'm all for some changes, like the Emperor in ESB, but not so sure about the voice changes. The emperor has new lines, and then there's the Boba Fett change. I know that the transfer to video put the matting around the images, and the DVDs will take that out. I've always thought the Rancor scene looked like Luke was watching a movie...
As for Hayden at the end of ROTJ, it makes sense. I mean, we didn't know what Anakin looked like prior to TPM, so it makes sense to change that. Cosmetic changes don't bother me, but changing dialogue and footage bothers me.
I may not have pre-ordered if I knew about these changes prior. I'm sure I'd have still bought them, but only after seeing them. Hell, I may just take the tapes somewhere and put them on DVD, or buy the LaserDisc DVDs. Yep, StarWars won't mean the same to me as it will the younger generations.
I think a lot of people don't remember the theatrical release. I sure don't, I was 3. But from some things I've read, each VHS release had subtle changes also. In the theatrical, the "Close the Blast Doors!" comment was there, but was lost until the SE. Other small things here and there were added/changed/fixed, but it was always small things. Not things that changed the context of the movies, in the way that the SE did.
Lucas made a comment about how the Prequels will change our look of the Original. Maybe what he meant was that he was going to change the Original so that we look at the Prequels differently. I think Lucas is becoming a HACK in his old age. I'm sure he wanted to change some Indy stuff, but Spielburg told him to FUCK off.
