So far here's what I've seen of these torrent files. They start out slow, maybe 5KB or so, but pick up as they go. It's a snowball effect of sorts. I don't keep track of it too closely, but it seems that the speed picks up as you get more of the files. The speed has gotten up to 30KB or so, and maybe higher at times, but when I've looked, it seems to be about that speed later in the download.
